For infants upto 5 yrs give as brahmi ghrita For children from 5 – 12 yrs brahmi powder – 1gm powder after food at night along with ghee or honey and water For 12 – 18 yrs of age – 2gm powder after food at night along with honey or ghee and water For adults 2- 3 gms one or twice a day in a divided dose. Duration : can be taken for 3 -4 months.
Brahmi is usually taken after dinner at night. But in case of sleep disturbances, take it along with ghee in the morning. For improving concentration, take it along with ghee in the morning.
Brahmi tends to reduce the heart rate so it is better to be avoided with a bradycardia condition. Because it is highly digestive, people with sensitive stomach or gastric ulcers are unable to tolerate it, and should take it along with ghee. An overdose can result in dizziness.
Externally mix brahmi powder with equal amounts of amla for hair growth. Internally it is better to take brahmi with ghee or honey as it can irritate the stomach.
